After a quick Google I found that its Latin name is Chionanthus virginicus and it is also known as Old Man's Beard and Grancy Graybeard. I'm sure many of you will have heard of it before but it is definitely new to me! and I can see why it got the name Fringe Tree....aren't these blooms spectacular.

ReplyDeleteIt was new to me too Ruth and, like you, I think it is a wonderful tree. The flowers are so pretty. It's nice to learn about plants and trees from our fellow garden bloggers, isn't it?
