abc wednesday

T IS ALSO FOR THURSDAY

so while I'm on a computer here's my Thursday Thought for Tomorrow (tomorrow starts with T too!)

a thought for Thursday

Four times a year we get a small free magazine called the CORNARD NEWS. The Winter edition arrived last week and when I saw one of the articles I thought what a perfect Thursday Thought it would be...............

A.A.A.D.D. - AGE ACTIVATED ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER

This is how it manifests itself;

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start towards the garage I notice mail on the table that I'd collected from the letter box earlier. I decided to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table, open the bills and put the junk mail in the recycling bin and notice that it is full. So I put all the bills back on the table and take out the rubbish first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the post box when I take the rubbish out I may as well write out the cheques for the bills and get them posted.

I take my cheque book off the table and notice there's only one cheque left. My new cheque book is in the desk drawer so I go over to my desl and find the can of Coke I'd been drinking earlier. I'm going to write out my cheques but first I need to move the can so I don't accidently knock it over. The Coke is getting warm so I decide to put it in the fridge.

As I head towards the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the worktop catches my eye --they need water. I put the coke on the worktop and find my reading glasses that I'd been searching for the day before. I set the glasses back down and fill a container with water. I suddenly spot the TV remote control has been left on the kitchen table.

I realise that when we watch TV tonight I'll be looking for the remote control but won't be able to remember that it's on the kitchen table. So I decide to put it back by the TV where it belongs; but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the vase but some spills on the floor...so I put the remote control back on the table while I wipe up the spill.

Then I head back down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

  • the garden's not watered

  • the car isn't washed

  • the bill's aren't paid

  • here's a warm can of coke sitting on the worktop

  • the flowers don't have enough water

  • the bill's haven't been paid

  • the recycling bin is still full

  • I can't find my glasse

  • I can't find the remote contro

  • and I can't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired.

Don't laugh...if this isn't you yet, your day is coming.

I almost didn't click over here because I thought you might be still off line. I am glad I did as I love Alpine Houses. If there is one place in all of England I want to visit it is Wisley. Thanks for getting me there in spirit.

Oh, I have had days like that. Yesterday and today included. Enjoyed my visit, as always.

I love alpine plants and the slide show for them was very cool

Alpine flowers look much like desert flowers and plants. They are beautiful and I love that slide show. It was large enough for me to see very well.

I have been wondering if ADHD for adults is from extreme stress. Is there any physiological evidence of an abnormality?

Fantastic you got to a computer!

The slide show isn't working Ruth but I love the photographs of the toadstools!

I can so identify with the age thing - happens to me all the time. :(

Nice one Ruth ,I think it is starting with me, I often start to do something then forget why I'm doing it and move onto something else, then remember later I should have been doing something, ahh well I 'll just put my slippers on and have a cup of tea.

Cheers Mark

PS thought you might find this useful
I was told how to allow the back links again, Google bloggers just follow this and it will allow backlinks again

go to http://draft.blogger.com and then to your settings for your blog, then to comment settings and chose "registered users (including Open ID)"
then all the wordpress, livejournal people CAN backlink.

I'm late for two reasons:
1) I have rarely been as focused on what I'm busy with (work) as this past 7-10 days and on probably close to Xmas. It's good for me, even though what they send me to deal with is frightful.
2) I honestly didn't expect anything new to be here, what with Blake & Silas & & &...

So, good on you! And your account of everyday life and the objects that occupy it is vivid and makes perfect sense to me. I have to be evermore careful with just about anything, from scraps of paper, letters and foodstuffs to my treasured collection of cultured pearls, emeralds and sapphires. I've lost 3 shirts, my collection of hand-picked wonder-seashells & lord knows what these past 10 months since my last house move. But I keep all my birthday cards on display. No way I'm misplacing them, thank you! Good to talk, isn't it?

Be GREAT!
