ABC WEDNESDAY - C
C IS FOR CATERPILLAR, CRANES AND CROCUS
C IS ALSO FOR CANCER..............
It was Christmas 6 or 7 years ago when Mick and I along with Manda and co went to the Christmas Fayre in Sudbury. I'm a terror as far as Cuddly toys go and always head for the Cuddly toy tombola stall where I usually win a few prizes; for a Change I'd been unlucky and won nothing and Mick said "OK Babe, time for me to have a go. If I win then this one's especially for you". He picked put a ticket; the stall holders face went white " I don't believe it!" he said" just half an hour into the evening and you've won the first prize!". The Teddy Mick won for me is a prized possession.
As those of you who followed my Blog ' There are a million stories' know, Mick passed away exactly 10months ago after a long fight against brain Cancer. That special Teddy still sits in my bedroom and he has a new friend....Edmund the Explorer....please visit Edmund's blog. He has a special mission to raise money for Darlington & District Hospice Movement St Teresa's Hospice ..... .

A whole lot of Cs, but you left the "best" part to the end - let us support Edmund the explorer. Cancer in no fun.
PS However, I wouldn't mind a bit of Crocus right now...
You have a nice collection of items for C. Glad your teddy has a new confidant. (I lost my twin to cancer 30 years ago.)
Nice collection of C`s.
Some beautiful and one of importance.
Sharing the Crane idea
Dear Ruth, I'm glad you have your special teddy!
i was in my garden earlier, wedding the rockery and thinking of you as i always do when i'm gardening!
I love cranes. There's something very beautiful about them.
I remember visiting your blog before Mick died. C for cancer is a good reminder of what a horrid thing it is and the need to support those researching it.
Very good c from you.Canser is an horrible decees from wich my father died in 2006.

This is a lovely memorium to Mick.
These are great. I love the crocus!
Isn't Teddy sweet to carry Edmund's photo around with him?
Nice photo of Teddy too. I'm glad you have such a happy memory of how how Teddy first moved in with you and Mick.
A very nice collection of "C"s.
A very nice collection of "C"s.
I imagine all of us have been touched by cancer, either friends , family or ourselves.
Hi Ruth,I did a ABC theme on my Thursday Thirteen every week and it was fun.I need to do something different tomorrow.
Your photos are great, but your story touches my heart. I lost my mother, my sister, and an aunt to breast cancer, my dad to a cancer in his mouth, a sister-in-law to lung cancer. I will walk again in September to fight breast cancer.
That's very poignant Ruth and a very important message. Cancer touches so many of our lives doesn't it?
That's such a sweet teddy with lovely memories attached Ruth. I can't believe it's 10 months. Cancer is a terrible disease I have lost quite a lot of family to it and friends.
Ruth...I have only recently met you since this new ABC Wed. started.
Wasn't aware of the history here...but must say I support all these humanitarian efforts.
Great photos! Especially the one of your teddy and Edmund. Let's stamp out that "C" word.
brilliant pictures and a great message
Awwwwwwwwwww Auntie Ruth, tell Teddy I am really touched! He is a great looking bear (but he has no clothes on!)my grandma is knitting me some. I will have a word with mummy when I get home. I have a spare scarf!
Lots of love
Edmund!
Cancer....so sad. It hit our family with our daughter Dec. 2006. She is a blessed young lady. od healed her.
re the catterpillar: I meant to tell you this ON weds.
I had a pet caterpillar pretty much like that. a bit more yellow. when i was about 8 yrs old
kept it with some leaves in a jamjar
for days on end...
it turned into a cocoon.
"chrysalis" if you prefer (isn't that the right word..?)
... weeks more passed... no action:~
and then at last one day I heard my Mum's cry:
"it's turned into a butterfly!"
and indeed it was! a brilliant bright yellow BUTTERFLY!!!
Ruth, thinking of you...ten months already since Mick is gone... Good idea to remind us of that one "C" that everyone dreads. I have yet another friend who has been diagnosed with cancer. She's only 44.
Thank you very much for your comments on our blog, it's really motivating to know that people actually read our writings.
We would love to have you back.
