ABC WEDNESDAY - R

abc wednesday

R is for REMEMBRANCE

Many of my regular visitors will remember my posts about the building of a garden in remembrance of one of the teacher's at our local primary school. Last week the garden was officially opened. I was so pleased to see blue skies as the crowds gathered.....and it was fitting that many ex pupils like one of my grandaughters, who owe much of their primary education to Mrs. Wimms, attended.....The local Mayor and members of Mrs. Wimm's family also came......Father Jamie dedicated the garden and the whole ceremony was very moving.....The garden is a Friendship Garden.......
Chidren who are feeling lonely can sit on this bench and other children will realise that they need someone to play with.........
I wish you could hear the children singing this........it was beautiful....
Inside the school were many photos of us all in the process of building and planting the garden...And then we all had a cuppa and cake!!!

Lovely, Ruth, such a lovely event, so full of solace. Mrs. Wimm must have been quite special to everyone.

Before I go, let me say that it takes an R to appreciate other Rs--thanks for that wonderful comment, RUTH.

What a great notion. My favourite part was the bench denoting loneliness.

Now THAT is a great concept, for people of any age.

'R' is for Ruth, too, one of my favorite garden bloggers.

Gardens are a good way to remember people.

God bless you.

A very worth while post, a great R post for sure... If we all could die knowing that we touched just one person enough for it to have changed them in a nice way. What more can we hope for.. what a beautiful tribute to a special teacher.

This is a lovely idea to celebrate a friend's life. I'm sure the children will appreciate the garden and I love the idea that a child will have somewhere to go to find a friend.

How wonderful to have taken part in the garden and the dedication.

Just perfect. And I totally endorse all the other comments.

Hello Ruth, Mrs. Wimms left a wonderful legacy, I think, to have received such honor as this.

That is a beautiful friendship garden. Thanks so much for sharing the ceremonies through photos.

I wish our school would make a friendship garden. The idea of the children sitting on the bench when they need someone to play with is terrific. I'm going to suggest it.

Blessings,
Mary

Cool post Ruth, that garden is a great idea. Funnily enough, it has occured to me before now that your beautiful garden is also a garden of remembrance for your Mick, as the two of you shared such a love for each other and the garden.
