BLOWING IN THE WIND

As it's not wheelchair friendly it's been a couple of years since I went for a walk up to the countryside area near our house. Being an outdoor type of person it was lovely to be able to look across the fields to the distant horizon.

In one field was a single poppy....it stood out amongst all the wild grass....it was really windy and the poppy was being blown about yet coped with it all and never snapped or lost a single petal. I felt rather akin to that poppy in it's struggle to stand fast.

A PAIR OF BRIGHT SPARKPLUGS

As you know I like to give a plug to new blogs; I think this is the first time I've "plugged" blogs compiled by guys. Notice the plural .......yes TWO new blogs to feast your eyes on.

The first is a new video blog by my blogfriend Gledwood. He is always finding interesting (sometimes chilling) videos on You Tube and has now started a blog solely dedicated to posting them. You'll find his blog HERE.

THIS GRANDMA'S LEARNING GRAMMAR

My main passion and hobby is gardening but Hubby and I had always been avid cryptic crossword "doers" and always had a fascination for words. When I was at school (a long time ago now) we didn't just have single English lessons....we had English Literature and English Grammar as two separate subjects. And (shouldn't start a sentence with and) speaking to our grandchildren, nowadays English Grammar and spelling seemed to have dropped by the wayside a little; the emphasis being put on content rather than correct English. But (sure I shouldn't start a sentence with but either!) I know that even I (especially when writing my blog in my "chatty" way), despite all those lessons, often make many grammatical errors. I was, therefore, really pleased when I saw that Mauigirl's Mother had started a blog on the subject of good grammar. Even though I do keep on making the same mistakes at least I'll have a blog to remind me of my errors! Her blog is called Marge's Words To The Wise...click on the picture below to pay her a visit.

GOTTA GARDEN!

The girls have all gone home now so I am hoping that the weather will hold for a few days so I can catch up with some gardening. I know we need the rain but I have so much potting on, potting up and planting to do!!!!

GREEN THUMB SUNDAY

My "spec" blogfriend Talj has a Peace lily which she has no problem getting to flower. I have THREE Peace lilys but they NEVER flower. I have been so envious....last Saturday Talj came and visited me....now I don't know if she had a secret word with one of my Peace Lilys or not but look what I've seen today!!!!
