FASCINATING FASCIATION

Just a quick post to show you the fasciated Snakeskin Fritillaria that I found in the garden. Can you see the way part of the stems and two flowers are fused together.
Last year we had two Rubekia flowers that displayed similar oddities. I love finding these fascinating little quirks of nature.

These two flowers are fused back to back.

This flower has petals coming out of the middle of the stamens.

If you have any similar photos on your blogs please let me know...I'd love to see them.

It all looks wonderful Ruth. I love to see all your flowers and plants because I don't have a garden myself. We don't even have a balcony so we can only keep house plants.

By the way. I have trouble seeing the text on your blog. It seems to fuse into the background once the page is fully loaded. I usually stop the page from loading all the way and can then read the white copy. It's probably because I'm using a "Safari" browser on an Apple Macintosh computer, but just thought I'd let you know that anyone popping in to have a look from a Mac platform will be having the same issues.

That is a very cool Fritillaria.
Reminds me of a snake I almost stepped on two days ago.

The fused stem thing always happens to my Gerbera daisies.

Ruth, I just found this post of yours! I recently wrote about fasciation, too. It makes you pause when you see it, doesn't it?
