THE GREAT PIP CHALLENGE - THE GATHERING
Thanks to a Tesco delivery and Manda's friend I have now started gathering everything together that I need for the G.P.C.
Rather than have a long post full of somewhat boring photos I've put them and a little information into this web album.

Yes that is really beautiful. Strange coincidence but I found a fresh lime on the pavement last night (never one to pass a free fruit by, me. And I love to add about 5 teaspoons sugar + 1 glass water; makes far better lime cordial than you can buy).
And yeah! Dear Deidre replied to me! How cool is that!!!
(She must pay an army of pseudonymous Deidres to answer her mail, SURELY...!)
I still can't get over that reply though!! I was like you. I thought she was just a photo in the paper!
Re below, I love the photos of the moving bedspreads you put before. And that mound of leaves the local frogs and harvest mice set up home in... (well what else happened to it...???!!?)

Hang on, it's not five teaspoons sugar; that would be ridiculous. You add about three to a normal size glass of water plus about five teasps lime juice. (Or just the whole lime.)
I have had avocados today. So will start them off! I must post some photos!!

what can i grow fruit wise thats really easy?

Claire; if you're meaning easy fruits to grow from pips etc.....I don't know yet....I think most will take many years before they fruit even if I'm successful. If you mean in general terms I reckon the soft fruits like strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries etc...even blueberries. Once you've got the plant as long as you follow a few pruning guides you'll get some sort of yield. As with most things "you get out what you put in"...i.e. right soil, watering, feeding. I think the easiest of the lot are strawberries lots of good varieties on the market that you can buy as ready plants, often producing a small yield in the first year. Easy to propergate too. Can even be grown in pots or hanging baskets....pop a few pots in a frost free greenhouse and you'll get really early crops!

Apples and oranges, I believe are relatively easy! But to be honest I'm not expecting fruit, just the challenge of getting the pip to grow!!
I must say the same as Lottie your quite a whizz on the computer! Are you self taught??? Can you give lessons??

Self taught...only got the computer last July so I could try online shopping as we cant get out much; now I fill my long sleepless hours with google searching for free myspace stuff. Just wish I could get to grips with HTML/HLMT/TLHM or whatever it's called!!!! Lots of sites about that explaining it all but it's all another language to me!!!! LOL
