VICTOR MELDREW WITH A SMILE

I couldn't believe it when I stepped outside the back gate this morning to see if our yellow bin had been emptied.

"GOODNESS GRACIOUS (aka for f...'s sake) when will people around here realise that our dustmen DON'T take rubbish unless it's in a bin!!!" I know what will happen now; this rubbish will sit here for a few days and then gradually get blown about by wind; ripped into by cats (or worse RATS); kicked about the street by the local children. Then I turned round and looked at the other fence........
"I DON'T BELIEVE IT !!!!!!!" now somehow I've got to move that or Mick and I can't get down the alley with his wheelchair. No good waiting for the council to move it; that could take weeks!!!!
So as I'm feeling really grumpy................to cheer myself up.......here are some photos of our first emerging daffodil of spring;
First sighting 13th December 2006
The colour starting to show 3rd January 2007
First petal opening 4th January 2007; exciting!
5th January 2007; can see the trumpet now!

I FEEL BETTER NOW.......VICTOR HAS LEFT
Yahoo! Avatars U.K. & IrelandAND RUTH IS BACK!

Theres something about the first daffodil, they are so cheerful!
But what happened to your snowdrops? Don't they come first???

I'm sure they should but they are only just starting to peek through the ground; maybe they are waiting for the snow! I know we've had daffs in February because my neighbour always remarks that ours are the first she sees but never in January before. The great thing is that it only takes a few different varieties and you can daffs right up until May

The daffs are wonderful - must have a nice little warm corner there.

I too can not believe people piling all that rubbish outside near where you live - how thoughtless.

Thank you for visiting me and leaving a comment. I read through some of your posts and this one caught my eye.I loved Victor Meldrew, but we never saw the final series in Canada. I followed the link to read that he was finished off by a car...poor Victor!
As for the daffodils...we often don't see ours flower until May, but with our mild weather this winter, mine are up about an inch and ahalf, so maybe we won't have to wait so long this year..!
