OFF WITH THE GARDENING GLOVES AND ON WITH THE SNOW BOOTS

I hadn't really expected the snow we had yesterday to settle but when I got up this morning It seems that it's not only Britain that's having these fluctuations in temperature though. Mauigirl52 from New Jersey, U.S. in my comment box said "Last Wednesday, 80 degrees F. (23 degrees or so C.); Friday, snow, ice and sleet. And it's been a frozen wasteland ever since!" I think she may have to do a post on FROSTBITE in her Medicana blog!!
I am really glad I put the edge of a cloche over the frogspawn on Sunday; can't have the babies catching cold!
I've started the Mushroom growing kit off; the compost has to be kept covered in a warm place for 9 days before the spawn is added. I've turfed everything out of the airing cupboard at the moment as it's the darkest, warmest place in the house. I must remember to keep it moist.
I've never grown pleione before; the flower bud just emerges from the soil!!! Beautiful flower and more on the way!
A reminder of all the spring flowers that are now flattened under a blanket of snow

Most bizarre weather, we had hailstones last night, no snow! But the wind is from the north and bitter!!

That pleione looks great; I must look out for some. Very unusual. We've not had snow but it's COLD!! Last year we had snow and I was so worried about the frogspawn but luckily it survived!

Oh my, it seems as if we are all suffering from this strange weather. While I am writing these lines, it's snowing outside!

Happy first day of spring, nevertheless!

Wow - what truly stunning photos of the snow - and a fantastic montage or your flowers and plants - I do admire your artistic and computer skills.

And growing mushrooms too - no end to your talents.

Our airing cupboard isn't very warm - I think the little tank is too well insulated!
