GREEN THUMB SUNDAY

One of our favourite lilies is in bloom.....the Stargazer.....beautiful flowers and the most heavenly perfume. The lily family has traditionally represented innocence and purity. Stargazer lilies have come to be associated with these meanings, but they've taken on additional meanings as well. The pink variety is considered symbolic of wealth and prosperity, as well being as a sign of aspiration.

My thumb is not green. Maybe that is why I admire your photos so much.

That's a nice flower and the supporting cast behind it is equally nice. You're a little early for GTS for me but I'll be putting mine up in a couple of hours.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog.

Rod Hulls little friend is safely tucked up in the Zoo Mark; wish I could say the same of the slugs, snails and Lily Beetles! Still waiting for the wealth and prosperity so you may have to wait for that loan! :o)

Hi Ruth,
Your lily is just lovely. I love drawing and painting lilies. I have even got the children in my class to draw lilies and then name the parts of the flower. We had great fun doing this.

That is a very nice photo of a lily. I posted a passionflower and learned that you had written a post about the passionflower. I was unable to find the link could you send it to me or leave a link to your post in my Green Thumb Sunday comments at www.benspark.com I would love to read what you posted since I know nothing of the flower except it was interesting to photograph.

I love lillies and they are no trouble at all to grow. I've had some in pots for approx 6 years, they come up every year as good as ever. However, the ones in the borders only survive if I don't accidentally chop them to bits when I'm having a good dig in the spring - I must remember to mark the spots this year!

Oh, that is a lovely photo composition, I love that the Lily has company of other flowers too! Lily's always are such a delight to see :-)

Come on over and see my flower that rock(s) *giggles*

Lovely flower. Beautiful photo. We grow stargazers as well as the common tiger lily. I find that the star gazers flower about two weeks or so later than the tiger liles. At least it spreads out the flowering time. :)

Hi Ruth,
Lovely photo. I recently read an article about growing lilies in the desert, so this fall, I'm going to try it for the first time ever! Hope they turn out as nice as yours.

Great lily picture. Laurie can't be to close to stargazer lilies. (allergies)

Have a great Sunday.

Those stargazers live up to their names, don't they. They look like stars and they keep the viewer gazing at them in awe.
