BOWLED OVER

I had intended to start this post with a moan about the cold night last night....down to 7C...and that fact that we are destined to another spell of wet and windy weather this weekend....then I heard on the news about the devastation and lives lost after the recent eartquake in Peru...

"At least 450 people were feared dead and thousands more
injured or missing after a powerful earthquake struck southern Peru. The quake
caused the region's familiar adobe houses to crumble, and caused two churches
full of worshippers to collapse in the cities of Ica and Pisco, more than 100
miles south of the capital, Lima." ~The Independent~
no moans from me today................

On Wednesday Manda text me to see if I'd like to go to the ten pin bowling centre with them...I thought "that'll be fun as long as I only have to watch"...and text back a "Yes Please". Why did I only want to watch?.....well I've only been bowling once in my life and remember the embarrassment when I couldn't knock down a single pin! Every one of my balls rolled into the
gutters...not my sport at all!
It was an enjoyable walk in the sunshine and when we got there I couldn't believe how bowling centres have changed.....everything was shiny and pristine.....
there were pool tables..........
a BAR and beverage area.......
and this sweet little notice with my name on.........MUM....
so guess who decided to play after all......and guess who won!!!!! Yes ME!!!! I couldn't believe it...at one point I got two strikes in a row!!!!! and loads of spares......(see how easily I've picked up the jargon...lol). Is this a latent skill that I ought to pursue....Could I be the next Diandra Asbaty !!!!!!!! And most importantly where can I get a pair of shoes like the ones I borrowed?.....they were so COMFORTABLE!!!...not a *bunion pain all day........

You could say I was completely bowled over!!!!!!

..........just as I was when I visited Gillian - Indigo Blue and Libby - Woodlands World; both have been kind enough to present me with this beautiful award................

I don't quite know how to choose who to pass this award on to....each one of my visitors who has left a comment on my blogs has been so "NICE"......just knowing someone out there takes time from their busy days to visit is so "NICE"and means so much to me......everyone is so kind, considerate and friendly......so if you're one of these many people please copy the award and pop it on your blog...courtesy of M.M.L.M.G..

* Bunions are no laughing matter to those who have them but I couldn't resist passing this old joke on.....I went to my podiatrist to have a bunion removed. When the treatment ended, I asked if another appointment would be necessary. He said,"No, but if you experience any discomfort, you should callous back."

I'm dreadful at bowling - it's one of those instances where I have to remind myself - it's not the winning but the taking part...... ROFL ! Well done you though!

Ruth, what a lovely bowling alley! I don't bowl..do you know how *embarrassing* it is when the ball rolls in the OPPOSITE direction of the alley? hehehe

That is just so awful about the devastation in Peru.

Congratulations on the beautiful award! You are such a dear person, you truly do deserve it!!!!!

podiatrist ... an iatrist for those who engage in podium dancing?? ...

bowling: mixed feelings for me ... on the one level the whole experience can spell a kind of enforced "fun" .. on the other it can BE lots of fun ...!... I've had sessions of fantastic scoring. But usually I am no good at it AT ALL!!
